Interest Rates, where to now?

The RBA left the cash rate at 4.35% on Tuesday 19th March 2024 for the third meeting in a row. Governor Bullock said it was good to see that peoples’ expectations of where they think inflation is headed have declined recently, but she would like to see them keep falling.

Owner Occupied rates (at time of writing).

For an owner occupied $400,000 loan of up to 90% LVR the rate available is 5.79% with a comparison rate of 6.39%.

Investment property rates.

For an investment property with a $400,000 loan of up to 90% LVR the rate available is 5.94% with a comparison rate of 6.59%.

Property values and other statistics

Darwin property values have increased by .3% during the last quarter. This result follows Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth in that order, and is ahead of the rest of the cities.

According to CoreLogic the last 3 months show Darwin property values falling by -1.6%, near on even which continues the trend.

Darwin is the cheapest capital to buy property in with a median value of $499,834. 

The rental yield for Darwin investment properties is the best of the capital cities at 6.6%.
